Srila Prabhupada: The Founder-Ācārya of ISKCON (pdf)
The GBC Foundational Document
Over the past years, millions of copies of the GBC brochure, “Srila Prabhupada: The Founder-Acarya of ISKCON”, have been distributed worldwide, helping devotees and spiritual seekers connect with the enduring legacy of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. A soft copy of this document is now available for download. For readers who prefer a version in their regional language, the translations link is provided for convenience.
This publication, a foundational GBC document, is not merely a historical account but a vital guide to understanding and implementing Srila Prabhupada’s role and instructions in ISKCON. The GBC requests all devotees and friends of ISKCON to give deep and careful attention to this work. To do so will broaden the collective understanding of, and appreciation for, the position of Śrīla Prabhupāda and his unique role in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
The document was created with the thoughtful input and dedication from the current and past members of the Srila Prabhupada Position Committee of GBC (SPPC) including , Gopal Krsna Goswami, Bhaktivaibhava Swani, Malati Devi Dasi, Akrura Dasa, Caitanya Candrodaya Dasa, and others.
In the Foreword to this document Bhakti Caru Swami, the chairman of SPPC, elaborates that Srila Prabhupada is recognised as the empowered emissary of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, chosen to fulfil the prophetic vision declared in the Caitanya Bhagavata:
“In every town and village of the world, the chanting of My Name will spread.”
To grasp the true significance of Srila Prabhupada’s position, we must explore the historical unfolding of Lord Caitanya’s mission through the Gaudiya tradition — a divine plan now manifesting on a global scale through ISKCON’s sankirtana movement.
